Mass Media Foundation and UNICEF Uzbekistan Host Meeting on Preventing Violence Against Children

The Public Foundation for Support and Development of National Mass Media, together with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) representation in Uzbekistan, held a meeting with journalists and bloggers on the topic "Protecting Children from All Forms of Violence".

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, Akramjon Fozilov, and the Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Uzbekistan, Regina Maria Castillo, delivered welcome addresses.

The main message that the meeting organisers tried to convey to participants was that "it's more effective to prevent violence before it happens, rather than simply responding after it occurs", which has been proven by global experience. Therefore, the role of the media in preventing violence against children through competent coverage of this issue, popularisation of relevant legislation and children's rights cannot be overestimated.
