Mass Media Foundation with Sharoit Plus Conducted Training on Ethical Reporting About Persons with Disabilities

On April 9 and 10, the Mass Media Foundation conducted training sessions for journalists and bloggers focused on the ethical coverage of disability-related topics in the media.
The speakers at the event were specialists from the Public Association of Disabled People of Tashkent City “Sharoit Plus”, partner organisation of the Mass Media Foundation.
The training sessions placed significant emphasis not only on using appropriate terminology and challenging stereotypes about people with disabilities, but also on the nuances of communication etiquette when preparing potential stories.
As the speakers noted, disability is not a sentence that irrevocably prevents people from performing certain everyday functions. With the creation of necessary conditions, appropriate infrastructure, and access to information, many people with disabilities can fully integrate into society, realise their abilities, and make significant contributions to various areas of life, including culture, science, and the economy.
